Puriri & Poppies follows the men from the small Northland town of Okaihau through World War One. Author Brian Jordan took the names on the old Okaihau memorial as his starting point and discovered who they were, what they did at home and what their experiences were during the conflict. He then weaves these narratives together.
For this project, I provided historical research and editorial support. I am extremely proud of the end product, a piece of grass roots history that was thorough in its research, as well as a book that is very readable. Feedback from the local community and from further afield has been positive.
